Global Service and Trade Leadership
Our founder set the high standards
our company lives by.
Global
Service and Trade was founded by James W. Gay in 1995 to support deployed
personnel and operations around the world.
Jim enlisted in the United States Navy in 1982. His specialty was as a Nuclear
Machinists Mate. After two years, he was appointed to the United States Naval
Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, graduating from there in 1989 with a BS in
Chemistry.
He served as a commissioned officer aboard the Fast Frigate, USS Lang, then as
Command and Control Officer on Amphibious Squadron Three and lastly as a
chemistry instructor at the US Naval Academy Prep school. After reaching the
rank of Lieutenant and 12 years in the Navy, Jim saw a need for a specialized
company to support deployed personnel in the worlds hot spots. So in 1995,
James resigned his commission and left the Navy for private business.
Global Service and Trade started modestly with its first contract supplying the
United States Police Training Mission in Haiti in 1995. Jim has always been a
hands on leader and has personally supervised operations in some of the most
dangerous places on the planet, including Haiti, Liberia and recently
Afghanistan. With determination and hard work, Jim built Global Service and
Trade into the recognized leader in procurement and logistical support within a
decade. The company now has satellite offices in California and Florida, as well
as its corporate headquarters in Virginia and a complete police equipment supply
retail store and warehouse in Texas. Global Service and Trade also maintains a
complete base camp in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Jim spends his time
traveling between his company locations and supervising operations. Jim is a
contributor to the International Justice Mission
who's mission is to free
victims from slavery and oppression worldwide.
